Edinburg, Texas - DHR Health, one of the largest physician-owned hospitals in the United States and a proud healthcare provider for the Rio Grande Valley since 1997, is pleased to welcome Dr. Roxana Mohhebali-Solis as the newest addition to our Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB-GYN) team and Graduate Medical Education (GME) faculty for the OB-GYN residency program. Solis will provide comprehensive OB-GYN care, including preventive services, prenatal and postnatal care, and the management of both routine and high-risk pregnancies while also serving on the GME faculty, where she will mentor medical residents and support the continued advancement of women’s health education in the region.
“We are proud to have Dr. Solis join our women’s health team—her expertise, leadership, and bilingual outreach make her an invaluable asset to both our patients and learners,” said Marissa Castañeda, senior executive vice president at DHR Health. “We look forward to the positive impact she will have on the women and families we serve, as well as the next generation of OB-GYNs under her training.”
Solis earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Texas Woman’s University, followed by her medical degree from the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Paul L. Foster School of Medicine in El Paso, Texas. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of California Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, California, where she also served as Obstetrics Surgical Chief Resident and led simulation training in obstetric emergencies. After serving as Chief Resident, she stayed on as faculty at the University of California Davis Medical Center and was awarded “The Faculty of the Year” award for her dedication to mentorship, teaching, and clinical expertise. Solis recently served as an Assistant Professor at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
Beyond clinical practice, Solis is widely recognized for her dedication to public health education. She has appeared in multiple Univision and Telemundo interviews, educating the public on vital women’s health issues like cervical cancer prevention, pregnancy during COVID-19, and common gynecologic conditions. Her commitment to community health has also been reflected through years of volunteer service, mentorship programs, and medical outreach initiatives across California and Texas.
“My goal is to provide a safe, welcoming space where women can feel comfortable asking questions, making informed decisions, and receiving care that reflects their values and needs,” said Solis. “I’m here to listen, advocate, and be a partner in their health—at every stage of life.”
