Biography
Dr. Andrew J. Widener is a Board-certified Family Medicine physician serving patients and communities in the Rio Grande Valley. He has extensive experience in primary care, chronic disease management, geriatric care, and care for patients of all ages.
A Brownsville native, Texas, Dr. Widener earned his bachelor's degree in Biochemistry from Arizona State University before earning his medical degree and completing his Family Medicine residency at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in the Texas Medical Center, the world's largest medical complex.
At Doctors Hospital at Renaissance, Dr. Widener will support patients through preventive care and the management of new and ongoing health concerns, with particular attention to chronic disease management. Dr. Widener also serves on DHR Health Family Medicine Residency Program as a core faculty physician, teaching and mentoring resident physicians as they train to become the next generation of family medicine doctors.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Widener enjoys chess, history, following current events, and spending his free time with his loving wife and family.
