Biography

DHR Health in Brownsville is delighted to welcome Charles J. Schwertner, MD, R.Ph., as one of its newest Orthopedic Surgeons. With an impressive 27-year career in orthopedic surgery, Dr. Schwertner brings a wealth of experience to the Rio Grande Valley.

A sixth-generation Texan raised in Abilene, Dr. Schwertner is the son of a registered nurse and Air Force officer. He completed pharmacy school at the University of Texas at Austin and pursued medical training at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, where he also completed his orthopedic residency. Following residency, Dr. Schwertner established a successful orthopedic medical practice in Williamson County.

As an Orthopedic Surgeon, Dr. Schwertner is committed to providing top-notch medical care, specializing in the treatment of all types of fractures, shoulder pain and rotator cuff tears, carpal tunnel syndrome, hip pain, hip replacement surgery, knee pain and meniscus injuries, and knee replacement surgery.
